Our company located in the beautiful city of Vista started 38 years ago when Mr. Barry Cohen decided to start an orchid hobby that later became a massive commercial business. After 35 years in business Mr. Cohen decided to move to Thailand where he opened a new establishment called Doi Saket Orchids. Rafael Acosta Jaramillo current owner of OrchidSource Laboratory and Nursery LLC started working for Mr. Cohen while attending California State University San Marcos. Rafael quickly learned various ways to grow orchids as he was very enthusiastic with these plants. After 5 years of education, Rafael graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. After his graduation, Rafael was hesitant to continue working for Mr. Cohen and at the end he decided to continue to work for Mr. Cohen for another 2 years. Soon after, his opportunity came when in Winter of 2005 Mr. Cohen decided to sell the property to Rafael.

Rafael decided to name his new business OrchidSource so that new and current customers would continue to be familiar with what Mr. Cohen used to provide his customers. Rafael has been very active trying to change many aspects of the business. In this site for example you will find valuable information about orchid propagation. You will also find chemicals he can provide to those interested in the lab aspect of growing orchids.
